CHATEAU LEOVILLE POYFERRE 2eme CRU CLASSE SAINT-JULIEN
Code: 6287Product detailed description
Léoville Poyferré was founded in 1840 and already in 1855 the famous classification of 1855 assigned it the second Cru Classé. After the catastrophic devastation of the vineyards by grapevine blight, the Poyferré family was forced to sell the chateau and winery to the Erlanger family and the Lalande family, relatives of the Lawton family.
In 1920, the Cuvelier family, already very important négociants from the north of France since the nineteenth century, took over the winery. In 1979, one of the family members, Didier, takes on the great responsibility of bringing the winery into the top Cru Classé peloton. During these years, very important measures were taken regarding technology and vineyards. At Léoville Poyferré, they place great emphasis on harmony with nature and terroir and strive to bring out the best that the local soils and subsoil have to offer. All this progress in innovation and tireless care has produced some truly great wines that you will find all over the world. The wines are characterised by their excellent balance, extraordinary finesse, elegance and their remarkable ageing ability.
